East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a home in Polegate on Thursday (April 9) after reports of an alarm sounding.
Crews from Hailsham and Eastbourne attended an address at Levett Avenue at 12.51am.
A spokesman for the fire service said there had been a cooker fire, which was out on arrival. A home safety visit was undertaken.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service issued some safety advice to help prevent cooker fires: make sure you don’t get distracted when you are cooking, take pans off the heat or turn the heat down if you’re called away from the cooker, take care if you’re wearing loose clothing as it can catch fire easily, don’t cook if you have been drinking alcohol - you may get drowsy or lose concentration.
