Sainsbury's Autistic Society handout to fund DVD and book lending library

A SUPERMARKET scheme to fund community groups has handed a £500 payout to the local branch of the National Autistic Society.

The money, from Sainsbury's Bexhill branch, goes towards a book and DVD library for local families affected by autism.

Sarah Fletton, of Wellesley Close, Little Common, who founded the charity's Bexhill arm, said: "This funding from Sainsbury's will enable us to provide a fantastic resource to local families, friends and relatives, helping to improve the support we are able to provide around a wide range issues.

"We will now be able to provide help on everything from eating problems and toilet training to sleeping issues and how to deal with the difficult adolescent years."

The Sainsbury's Community Grant scheme is funded by sales of Bags for Life.

Manager Marco Sarro said supporting the community was important for the Buckhurst Place store.

"The local Bexhill Branch of The National Autistic Society are our nominated charity of the year, and we will be working closely with them over the next 12 months to raise as much money as possible, so we were really pleased to be able to help out by nominating them for a Community Grant," he said.
