Sam Smith cancels Wild Life performance

GRAMMY-WINNER Sam Smith has cancelled his Wild Life Festival appearance because of a haemorrhage on his vocal cord.

The Stay With Me singer has been advised to receive suspension microlaryngoscopy surgery by a specialist. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Smith said: “I am very upset to announce I have been battling to get my vocal cords better the last ten days but unfortunately they haven’t recovered and I am going to need surgery.

“I’m so gutted to be missing all the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors say I will be back in six-to-eight weeks and I cannot wait to sing for you all soon.”

Smith recently cancelled tour dates in Australia and Japan. Other upcoming cancellations include Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Capital FM’s Summertime Ball. He will resume touring in July once he has completed his prescribed healing time following the procedure.

Smith has promised fans he will be first on the team sheet for next year’s Wild Life Festival.

Disappointed fans will be entitled to a refund until midnight next on Thursday, May 14, and are advised to contact the ticket agent with whom they purchased their tickets.
