Cricket: The cricket club are at home to Wateringbury on Saturday (16) with a 2pm start, Linda Pope Opticians at Hawkhurst are the matchball sponsor. The club are away to Hastings and St Leonards Priory on August 20 with a 2pm start,

Bus Services: East Sussex County Council, who subsidise Stagecoach to run the 349 service on Sundays and bank holidays, are consulting from now into September with a proposal to cancel the bus service. For more information call 0345 60 80 194.

Friendship Club: The next meeting of the friendship Club takes place on September 5 with a Thames boat-trip from Gravesend to Westminster Bridge. The cost, including coach and boat tickets and cream tea is £28 a head. Bring a picnic lunch. To book call Rosie on 01580 850433.

Brave Amy: Amy, the grandaughter of Florence and Fred Hedger and Brian and Patricia, from the village, is very brave. She sat in a chair that was strapped to the fuselage of a single engine plane that did several swoops across the area to raise in excess of £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Refuse lorry: The civic amenities rescue lorry will be in the village on Saturday August 16 at Lomas Lane from 8am - 8.25am; Ringle Green from 8.30am - 9am; Back Road from 9.05am - 9.35am; Tanyard from 9.40am - 10.20am and Dandhurst Close from 10.25am - 11am.
