Santa helps Sidley School to £543 sale success

FATHER Christmas was a welcome visitor when Sidley Community Primary School staged its Christmas sale.

The sale was the second major event to be staged by newly-created FOSSA - Friends of Sidley School Association and followed the success of the summer event.

The gaily-decorated school hall was a lively scene last Thursday afternoon with a large stall stocked with books and toys.

In addition to the main tombola there were two children's tombolas, a book stall and refreshments.

Event organiser, parent Louise Harris, said: "It's a joint venture. We have managed to get together a Friends of Sidley School Association. There's a little group of about five of us at present.

"We have Santa is his grotto this afternoon as a special attraction.

"We are raising money. Eventually, we hope to provide some shade for our swimming pool area. It gets very hot round there in summer.

"We have already done one summer event. This is our first Christmas effort."

The sale raised 543.33.
