The Children’s Ward was surprised on Christmas morning by Father Christmas accompanied by Worthing Lions Peter Rixon, Tony Richardson, Jane Dodman and Lions Club president Bob Chalcraft.

Six DVD players were given to the ward as well as individual gifts for children and staff.

Bob said: “It was a pleasure to see the delight on the children’s faces when they saw Father Christmas come in along with his Lion and Elf.”

The Lions raised money throughout the year in their charity shop, in George V Avenue, at the Seafront Festival and their annual Christmas street collection.

All members are volunteers and money raised by the Club goes to causes with a particular emphasis on children and young people.

On Christmas Eve, mayor of Worthing Bob Smytherman, mayoress of Worthing Norah Fisher and MP for East Worthing and Shoreham visited the hospital to wish staff and patients merry Christmas.
