Say no to rogue traders as police take part in raising awareness

As part of the national Rogue Traders Week, 22 neighbourhood police officers got together with colleagues from West Sussex Trading Standards for a day of action.

Police and trading standards officers visited 25 homes in Mid Sussex to give advice about how rogue traders operate.

Sergeant Rachel Mundy from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The day proved very successful in raising awareness of rogue traders and their tactics and highlighting the customers’ entitlement to a seven day cooling off period.

“Door stickers produced by Sussex Police, West Sussex County Council and Neighbourhood Watch were also given out, stating ‘I don’t buy from doorstep sellers’. These are available at Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath police stations as well as at town council help points.

“I would like to thank the local communities for their continued support with our day of actions and of course, for the expertise and help from Trading Standards.”
