school celebrates extension

IT WAS celebration time at North Lancing First and Middle School on Friday afternoon with the official opening of its new extension.

The new block was officially opened by West Sussex County Council's deputy director for education, David Monger, who said: "It's quite a marvellous facility and will make quite a difference to what the teachers will be able to do."

Headteacher Jim Pearson said the extension had actually been in use since September and added: "It has four new classrooms and a toilet block and that does mean that all of the first school are housed in the school."

Mr Pearson added that the extension had replaced a set of outdoor classroom huts, and was designed by architect Beverley O'Dell, of Hunter and Partners, the county architects.

"All the staff and the governors worked very hard to get it open on time," said Mr Pearson.
