SCHOOL CLOSURE SHOCK

THE closure of Newlands independent day school in Seaford has sent shockwaves throug the town.

Students and staff from the 150-year-old school only learned of the closure last Friday (March 31), leaving 200 teachers and administration staff out of work and 450 pupils without a school to return to after the Easter holidays.

Many of the GCSE and A-level age students face uncertain times as they are due to take their exams in less than a month.

The future of the listed building and its associated land has not yet been revealed by owners, the Chittenden family.
