The sun shone and everyone had a great time on the terrace, fancy dress was optional and lots of staff and children wore wonderful costumes.

The St Mary’s in house catering team provided the buffet, which included Salmon and cucumber sandwiches, strawberries and cream, red white and blue jelly and a variety of different cakes.

Ice creams were provided by Di Paolo’s of Bexhill and proved very popular with the children.

Peterhouse Care Home in Bexhill very kindly lent us their cardboard cut-out of the Queen and everyone enjoyed having their photo taken with her.

Salty the Starfish, the school mascot also made an appearance, greeting the children as they took their seats for tea.

The children also sang and signed the words to God Save the Queen assisted by Sign language teacher Rachael Gildersleeve.
