The ceremony was held at Kettering Conference Centre and is sponsored by school travel company PGL.

The school was awarded the prize for their commitment to competition within the school, hosting a series of competitive challenges, leading to a big sport competition, which helps pupils learn the skills of the game and how to win and lose.

Alison Oliver, director of sport at the Youth Sport Trust, said: “The work of everyone at the Regis School is a great example of how sport can capture young minds and positively impact their school and personal lives.

“Their commitment and drive to providing opportunities and inspiring experiences for young people is unquestionable, and there’s no doubt this innovative work will continue to get stronger.”

The Regis School was praised for their efforts to make all competition fully inclusive and ensure every pupil regardless of their ability level, disability and ethnic background has the opportunity to participate in sport.

They were also commended for their outstanding work at using competition across other subjects to improve pupils’ learning and engagement.

Sean O’Connor, school games organiser for West Sussex West SSP, said: “It feels brilliant to win the award. Credit goes to The Regis School Olympic Committee made up of students and myself.

“They decide how the intra-school competition works and that’s great because it’s their voice and they know what young people want.”
