School spreading Christmas cheer

A PULBOROUGH residential home was given a festive treat when an award-winning school choir performed for them.

Those living at The Anchorage, Coombelands Lane were treated to a Christmas carol concert by the 53-strong choir from St Mary’s C of E School in Pulborough, the winners of last year’s Spirit FM Xmas Factor competition.

It was the children’s last live performance before they record this year’s Xmas Factor competition entry and it proved to be one of the highlights of the year for the ‘delighted’ residents.

Activities manager, Liz Smith, said: “It was wonderful to hear the children singing with such enthusiasm and our residents certainly enjoyed it immensely.”

St Mary’s School headteacher, Alyson Heath, added: “The choir has gone from strength to strength and they just love performing in front of a live audience.

“They thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the residents and it was the perfect final practice before the competition.”

The choir, run by Mrs Heath and supported on the piano by Tony Hancock, will be heading to the O2 Arena in March to take part in the national Young Voices concert.
