Schoolgirl elected town's first youth mayor

A SCHOOLGIRL elected Worthing's first ever youth mayor has vowed to fight for improved leisure facilities for young people.

Hannah McGrath became the only youth mayor in Sussex at when all 23 members of the Worthing Youth Council unanimously voted for her at a ballot last week.

The 15-year-old is expected to sit at Town Hall meetings to lobby councillors on issues important to youngsters.

Hannah, from Davison High School, "I am extremely proud, not to mention surprised to be elected. I am very excited to be the first one and I am hoping to lay the foundations for future youth mayors."

I see myself as an ambassador for every type of young person in Worthing. I am their spokesman to ensure they have a voice. After all it's their future."
