Schools' supermarket sweep

CHILDREN from three schools went to Arun Vale infant school in Littlehampton on Friday to collect new computer equipment.

Paid for with vouchers from supermarket chain Tesco's computers for schools scheme, the equipment was handed over to the children from Arun Vale, Climping and Connaught schools by Tesco representatives and Littlehampton's MP Nick Gibb.

Now in its 15th year, the scheme has donated more than 100m worth of equipment to UK schools.

Alice Creane, headteacher at Arun Vale, said: "Rather than just sending the equipment out it was nice that Tesco made the effort to come out to us.

"We got a digital camera which will be used by the children. I would like to thank all the parents who collected the vouchers and to Tesco for running the scheme '” it's a great way for them to support schools."

Climping school received a digital video camera. Nicky Paddock, Year 5 and ICT teacher at the school, said: "The children will be using it to film events that happen at the school and for making their own films. We are very grateful to Tesco for running the scheme and would like to thank everyone who has donated vouchers to us."

The pupils from Connaught took two printer/scanners and some software back to their school.

Deputy headteacher Helen Williamson thanked all the children and parents for collecting the vouchers and said the equipment would benefit all the children at the school.
