Sown in the spring with a mix of poppy and cornflower, there is also an area specially to attract bees which has been sown with borage, red clover and phacelia.

Christ’s Hospital is also a case study for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and experts from the Trust have identified ten different species visiting the School’s wildflower areas. Additional conservation projects undertaken by the grounds team at Christ’s Hospital include a new orchard planted with ancient Sussex varieties and the rejuvenation of an overgrown pond area.

A variety of nesting boxes were also placed around the site early in the year.
