Scouts all setfor St GeorgeDay parade

The theme for this year’s parade, celebrated on Sunday April 21, will be ‘’Inspiring a Generation’’.

It will be led by Rev Dr Michael Brydon, District Chaplain, at St Mary’s Church, Battle, and will look at life on the throne, from Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation to the present day.

The parade will move down Battle High Street, led by Battle Town Band and with some 600 members escorting standards.

Beaver Scouts will possibly wear Royal regalia while Cub Scouts will wear face masks representing countries visited by the Queen.

Scouts groups will present symbols of key events from the Queen’s reign, and Explorer Scouts will highlight the Queen’s humanitarian concerns.

As is customary each Section, also Leaders, will renew their Promise and representatives will recite the Scout Laws.

The church is expected to be filled with colour and an

atmosphere of purpose, all linked to the overall theme.

It is expected the church will be filled to capacity and the event will conclude with a march past and return to the point of assembly.

A St George’s Day Parade will also take place in Rye when local youth organisations will be joined by members of the Royal British Legion, marching past the Town Hall and then on to a service at St Mary’s Church.

Battle Scouts is for those aged between 10 - 14.5 years.

They meet on a Friday evening from 19:00 - 21:15 at St Mary’s Hall, Upper Lake, when they prepare for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, abseiling and team games amongst others.
