Cubs have brought in tins, packets and jars to boost the supply already collected by churches in the town.

Members of the churches made a visit to the meeting to give a short talk on how the bank works.

Cubs then helped transport the items to St Mary’s Church, where the bank will be based.

Jenny Carter, Cub Scout Leader, said: “Not only have Cubs collected the food items but we shall be stream clearing in June and raising funds by means of a sponsored ‘Do 1 Thing for Your Community’, to be able to purchase plants and shrubs for the area next to our Scout hall.

“Cubs will be awarded two new badges for their commitment to the projects.”
