Lewes-based Selv Recovery has pledged its support to Chandlers Building Supplies’ charity appeal by giving its customers the option of donating all or part of the cost of scrapping a car to the fundraising campaign.

The Chandlers £50k Challenge is aiming to raise £50,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in honour of Chandlers’ employee Rob Sadler, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer himself.

Rob will be having a double celebration during 2013, marking not only 30 years of Chandlers’ employment, but more significantly his 50th birthday; those with Cystic Fibrosis are not expected to live beyond their 30s.

Del Elliott, owner of Selv Recovery, said: “It’s fantastic what Chandlers is aiming to do. When I heard about it I wanted to show my support.”

Selv Recovery is running its offer until the end of the year and will allow the money received from scrapping a car, which can range from £80 to £140 depending on weight, to be donated to the Chandlers £50k Challenge appeal.

Richard Skinner, Commercial Director at Chandlers Building Supplies, said: “Thanks to Selv Recovery for supporting our charity appeal, and thanks in advance to people who use their service and donate the money to the Chandlers £50k Challenge.”

He continued: “We would really like the local community to get involved, so if there are other local companies who would like to show support by doing some fundraising, putting on an offer or providing something for our silent auction, we would love to hear from them.”
