GARAGE SALE TRAIL: Residents of Heathfield Road and Bainbridge Close are having several garage sales from 9am tomorrow, Saturday, together with the Community Garden in the Crouch opening at 10am. There is a children’s playground between the garden and trail. Sounds like a good family day out.

THE REMARKABLE STORY: Of a women with the name of a man will be told at the next East Blatchington Lecture on Tuesday. Her name? Well, originally it was Amandine Aurore Lucie Dupin. When she was eighteen in 1804 she married Baron Dudevant, had two children but left him and went to Paris with the children to make her living in literature. An early love affair was with Jules Sandeasu from whose surname she took her pseudonym - George Sand. She became a prodigious novelist and dramatist and campaigner for all manner of political reform and was called the first modern liberated women. She also had some much publicised romantic affairs with a number of artists, including composer and pianist Frederic Chopin. Her life is quite a story and one which Rosemary Leech will describe at the lecture which is at St Peter’s Church, Belgrave Road at 2.30pm. Tickets are £7 including refreshments and are available from Newberry Tully, Church Street or at St Peter’s Church, all are welcome.

SEAFORD CONSTITUTIONAL CLUB: How about coming to watch the Wimbledon’s Men’s Quarter Finals (Wednesday July 6) on the big screen enjoying a cream tea from 2.30pm onwards. Also have a look at the alterations we have done including our new function room which all are welcome.

OPEN GARDEN: At The Long House, Westdean BN25 4AL on Thursday from 2pm to 5pm. Admission £5 children are free, there is also free parking in the village. Homemade teas and plants for sale. Proceeds to the National Garden Scheme.

CONCERT: Of Traditional and classical guitar music by Mark Jennings on Friday July 8 starting 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Bishopstone Village. Tickets £10 with free refreshments and parking. SEA SUNDAY 2016: Will be held at St Andrew’s Church. Bishopstone Village on Sunday July 10. Service starting at 10.15am. Celebrating 160 years of caring for Seafarers and their families around the world. On Sea Sunday churches all over the world come together to celebrate and remember the lives of those who work at sea. Past and present, then and now, men and women of the merchant fleet have given their lives to serving their countries during war and through peacetime.
