WHEN the newly formed Seaford Bonfire Society (SBS) attended the Eastbourne Bonfire celebrations last Saturday they came away with the title Best Visiting Society.
This was awarded by Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd to society chairman Steve Russell.
The Seaford celebrations will take place on Saturday October 22 with a torch-lit parade, bonfire and free firework display.
Steve said: “We are proud to receive this award on just our second out-visit.
“It is a testimony not only to the 35 members marched through Eastbourne but also to our members who have been working so hard in the background.”
The trophy was sponsored by the Pentacle Drummers who will provide the backbeat to the Seaford parade.
About 1,000 people took part in the spectacular Eastbourne parade.
SBS spokesman Kevin Gordon said: “The boys and girls of the Seaford Society looked fantastic and we were all very well received by both the crowds and other bonfire societies.”
Anyone who would like to join the procession should go to Badge Night at SBS HQ, the White Lion in Claremont Road from 7pm on Friday October 21.
Procession starts 7.15pm from the White Lion, wreath laying at the War Memorial at 7.45pm, march down Broad Street and High Street to the Martello Fields where the bonfire and fireworks display kicks off at 8.45pm.
