Seaford Choral Society stage Spring Concert at St Leonard’s Church

MUSIC director Sion Parry will conduct Menelssohn’s Elijah in Seaford Choral Society’s spring concert in St Leonard’s Church on Saturday May 7 at 7.30pm.

There may be more than usual interest in the soloists in this performance as two of them, Dame Felicity Lott (soprano) and Matthew Rose (bass), who sings the role of Elijah, are local residents.

Matthew, a former pupil of Newlands School, will be singing the role of Leporello in Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne this summer.

He is due to make his debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera this year.

To join them, the society welcomes back Susan Legg (mezzo soprano) and Andrew Mackenzie - Wicks (tenor) who have already made memorable appearances in Seaford with this choir.

Rachel Parry will lead The Exceat Players.

A retiring collection will be held in aid of the charity Searchlight Workshops in Newhaven.

Tickets cost £12 (including programme) and are available from Seaford Tourist Information Centre and Newberry Estate Agents, both in Church Street, Seaford.
