Seaford College hold a mock election before the real thing

The students wanted their classmates to talk about policies not personalities and six were chosen to present the main policies of the three largest parties. But instead of naming them, they presented the policies of party 1, 2, and 3.
They covered topics ranging from Brexit and immigration, to tax and the NHS, covering a majority of the issues that would be important to young people.

Hide AdOrganiser English teacher Amy Doy, said:, “The students who actually presented the policies were very involved in the process and we worked out together which ones would be most relevant to their age group. The Mock Election was a great catalyst for political debate across the school and much of the success of it was due to the enthusiasm and energy of those who took part.”
When it came to placing their votes, sixth formers voted for ‘party 1’, The Liberal Democrats, as their party of choice, with 46 votes. ‘Party 3’, The Conservatives, were their next favourite, with 39 votes, and ‘party 2’, The Labour party, were their third favourite party, with 28 votes. But only 18 votes separated all three parties.
