Seaford has been revealed as one of the top ten places in the world to get away from it all, by travel website TripAdvisor.
The Sussex seaside town was ranked number five in the list, which included destinations like Milford Sound in New Zealand at number one.
The information was gathered from TripAdvisor’s 75 million reviews and opinions.
It pointed out that the rolling hills of the South Downs as the backdrop for the town, assisted in getting Seaford to the top of the list.
TripAdvisor said that the town’s location at the foot of the South Downs, with its chalky cliff-lined beaches, synonymous with the South East coast of England also helped to make it one of the most peaceful places, according to its website.
It added that Seaford enjoyed a refreshing sea breeze in the summer and spectacular stormy seas in the winter.
Emma Shaw, TripAdvisor spokesperson, said: “Everyone has their own idea of what makes the ideal place to relax and reflect and it’s fantastic to see the UK town of Seaford recognised among such beautiful destinations across the globe.”
Coming in at number two was Lombok, Indonesia, followed by the Loire Valley in France.
In fourth place was Munnar, India; sixth was Lapland, Finland; seventh was Bhutan, Asia; eighth was Bora Bora, French Polynesia; ninth was Assisi, Italy and tenth was Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, US. To see the list visit http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/InfoCenter-a_ctr.peacefulUK
