Micklefield Nursery Seaford celebrates a previous 'Outstanding' Ofsted

Outstanding teaching has helped a nursery to maintain top marks following an Ofsted inspection.

Micklefield Nursery School, in Seaford, was visited by inspector Helen Edwards on November 24 and her findings were published on December 18.

Giving the nursery its second ‘outstanding’ rating since 2011, Ms Edwards praised the quality of teaching as well as the children’s eagerness to learn and the partnerships formed with parents.

Her report said: “Leadership is inspirational. The management team is highly effective in its commitment to continuously improve this exceptional nursery.”

She added: “Children are extremely well prepared by the impressive professional team for their eventual move on to school.”

When it came to their progress as they prepared for the step up to primary school, Ms Edwards said all children, including those who were below the expected level of development when they started at Micklefield, advanced rapidly.

Describing staff as “superb role models”, she added: “Staff provide children with strong foundations for future learning. Children are very well prepared for school.”
