Seaford Town Council approves street tree planting scheme

A street tree planting scheme and a proposal from Seaford Town Council that tree wardens received training to work next to highways was approved by the town council on Thursday July 25.

East Sussex County Council told the town council that it would take responsibility for the maintenance of street trees after five years.

The town council said the county council would be able to maintain and inspect the trees more cheaply in the long term.

A halt was called to street tree planting in Seaford earlier this year while Seaford tree wardens and the town council discussed issues about risk management, inspections and maintenance.
