Seaford’s young mayors raise hundreds for water refilling stations in quiz night success

Seaford’s young mayor and deputy young mayor held a successful quiz in aid of new water refill stations for the town last week.

James Jenkins, Seaford young mayor, and deputy, Chanel Pritchard, quizzed their audience’s general knowledge on Friday, January 17 at ‘The View’, Southdown Road.

Quiz team entry money, proceeds from a raffle, and the auction of a day trip to Bruges for two donated by Premier Travel, raised £700 on the night.

Young mayor James Jenkins said: “What an excellent evening it was! Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the fundraising at the quiz night.

“Everyone was happy and the time went so fast! With the amazing turnout, raffle, and auction, we raised an incredible amount.

“I hope that my second quiz night on March 13 will do just as well!”

Proceeds from the event will contribute towards the cost of installing water refill stations in the town.

The refill stations are intended to reduce single-use plastic and encourage residents to use refillable bottles when out and about.

Many local businesses donated prizes to the raffle including VR Flowers and Son, Cloe’s Café, Foam and Fabric, Sedici, Wynnes and Seaford Fencing, Bengal Palace, R & B Fish and Chip Shop, Fonetastic, Gino’s, Tang’s, Redgolds Opticians, Massala Express, Tansley’s Printers, and Premier Travel.

The upcoming young mayor’s general knowledge quiz night will take place on Friday, March 13 at The View, Southdown road to raise further funds towards the water refill stations.
