Seafront fit for the 21st century!

A children s play area, serpentine contoured lawns, sweeping steps to the promenade and a rectangular piazza on Marina Arcade were just some of the ideas tossed into the melting pot by architects chosen to design the scheme.

Computer-based landscape consultancy Tim Gale Landscape Architects has carried out a series of seafront projects inluding Morecambe and a 10m scheme in Ramsgate to re-invigorate the esplanade.

Before over 50 representives of the town s groups in the Town Hall, Tim Gale presented the preliminary ideas which won his company the contract.

He said these were just the starting point from which the final design would grow.

The firm would go away, design a scheme based on the consultation and report back to the project team. It will then be discuused at consultation level before being costed. The final consultation would take place before the end design is put to Rother District Council for approval.
