CHARITIES in Seahaven funded by Sussex Community Foundation were visited by special guests on August 29.
David Allam, the High Sheriff of East Sussex, and Kevin Richmond, Chief Executive of the Foundation, went to Newhaven Foyer, which provides housing and support for young people who have been homeless, and Waves, which supports Seaford families with practical help.
They also visited Seaford Hard of Hearing Project, a volunteer-led group that seeks to reduce the isolation hearing loss can bring, building confidence and helping people develop the skills they need to cope.
The the Foundation funded lip-reading classes there for people aged 60 to 92.
Mr Allam, who plans to make further visits throughout his year in post, said: “Sussex Community Foundation does a great job, getting money where it is needed at the grassroots of local communities across East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
“It was truly inspiring to see the great things volunteers can achieve.”
