AFTER last year’s successful disability day at the Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford, Wave Leisure is delighted to announce the launch of the Seahaven Para Games this coming August.

Just ten days before the Paralympic Games begin in London, the programme - running from 10am until 4pm - will include four sporting activities plus a buffet lunch.

The activities will include wheelchair basketball, kurling, boccia and wheelchair slalom.

Seaford Kurlers and Lewes Boccia will be organising and running their respective activities and the not for profit company, which runs leisure centres around Sussex, is hoping to be able to recruit some wheelchair basketball coaches.

Wave Leisure managing director Peter Crowley said “We are thrilled to be able to host this event for another year and we hope to build on the great atmosphere of participation and competition that was generated last year.”

Wave Leisure said it was only able take a maximum of 40 participants on the day, and is asking that participants must be accompanied by a carer at all times if required.

If you would be interested in entering either a team or entering as an individual, contact the Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford on 01323 490011 or email

This event is offered at no charge to the participants however there are a number of costs that need to be covered on the day.

Wave Leisure will provide the Downs Leisure Centre at no charge, however it is looking for sponsors or supporters to help it continue to run the games and would like to be able to secure the games as an annual event.

If you are interested in supporting the games contact Sarah Pearce, marketing manager at Wave Leisure on 01323 490011 or email
