SEAN'S TOP ROLE

Sean Albuquerque, Director of ABQ Studio based in Halland, has been elected as Chairman of RIBA South East. He will play a key role in representing the interests of some 2,500 Chartered Architects in 600 practices in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

One of Sean's main priorities will be to encourage the Region's architects to be 'ambassadors for architecture'.

'Architects are trained to be approachable '“ to listen to people and turn their long-felt wishes into bricks and mortar,' he says.

'Architecture is an important aspect of our built environment and architects are trained to deliver solutions that meet individual needs, just as much for a small house extension as for a large public building. Good design is not expensive but represents good value.'

'Teach architecture to children'

Sean cites the annual Architecture Week as an excellent opportunity to experience architecture. For Architecture Week this year, RIBA South East's Regional Office co-ordinated nearly 100 events across the whole of South East England; and is set to do the same in 2007 with partners the Solent Centre for Architecture + Design.
