For the first time, Broadwater Carnival Day is being combined with the Worthing Fire Station open day, on Saturday July 18.

Ann Barlow, one of the organisers, said: “The procession will feature decorated pushing wheels, pulling wheels, ride along wheels, sit on wheels and any other wheeled contraption you can conjure up – all without any motors.

“We really want to encourage families, schools, community groups, nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools, Scouting and Guiding groups, and businesses to join in.”

All entrants for the prince and princess competition should be from the Worthing and Lancing areas.

Voting will begin on Thursday, July 4, and the winners will be announced in the two newspapers on Thursday, July 16
