The trust’s @SECAmbulance account placed 32nd in the list, which forms part of a report by NHS providers and JB McCrea Ltd looking into the use of social media in the NHS.

SECAmb’s Janine Compton said: “We’re really pleased to be named in this top-50.

Twitter is, of course, just one way which we choose to communicate with our patients, members of the public, staff and other interested parties but it’s proving really successful.

The trust currently has more than 6,700 followers and is this month using the social media site to promote its winter campaign under the hashtag #wallopwinter.

As part of the campaign, SECAmb is offering advice to members of the public to help them reduce the chance of them needing the service over Christmas and the winter period, with the pressures on the ambulance service greatest at this time of year.

The campaign will also include some live tweeting from the Trust’s 999 and NHS 111 control rooms.
