Secret gardens out in the open

GARDEN lovers enjoyed the rare opportunity to explore the Secret Gardens of Winchelsea when they opened their gates to the public on Saturday in aid of the National Garden Scheme charity.

Beautiful gardens open on the day included Strand Plat, Rye View, The Armoury and Cleveland House.

A total of ten gardens were open and visitors were able to see them at their best thanks to glorious sunshine..

Taking place on the same day were tours of the medieval cellars while historic Winchelsea Methodist Chapel also opened its doors.

Gardens were open again on Monday afternoon in aid of Rye Memorial Care Centre.

There will be another chance to see many of the Secret Gardens when they open again, under the National Garden Scheme on September 14.
