A council spokesman said the damage was usually caused in the evenings.
Over the course of the last 15 months there has been several thousands of pounds worth of damage, so planning permission has been applied for to put these shutters up.
He added: We hope that if people do see anybody doing damage they will be public spirited enough to report it.
