EASTER LILIES: It is time to order your lilies in memory of loved ones to decorate the church at Easter. These will be £2 each and can be ordered by phoning Sylvia on 870688 or Margaret on 870808. Envelopes are also available in church if you would rather collect one from there. All names will be included on the roll of honour which will be on display in church over the Easter period

QUIZ IN VILLAGE HALL: There is to be a quiz to raise money for the Friendship Club on March 11 at 6.45 for 7. You are invited to make up a team for further information or to book please contact Ralph on 870223. There will be refreshments provided during the evening along with some interesting questions!

SEDLESCOMBE GREEN WI: The next meeting of Sedlescombe Green WI will be in the village hall on Wednesday February 24 at 7.30pm. Mr Malcolm Pratt will be talking on “The Confederation of the Cinque Ports”. The competitions this month are anything related to the Cinque Ports and as always the flower of the month. If you would like to see what the WI is all about, visitors and new members are always welcome at this small and friendly group.

SEDLESCOMBE POST OFFICE CHANGES: Changes at the Post Office Going ‘Local’ It has been confirmed that we will be going ‘local’ at the Post Office. The changes will take place at the end of February and the Post Office will be closed for about a week to reopen at the beginning of March. The fortress position will be removed and replaced with additional retail space. Other things will be moved around the shop. They are not expecting a big change to the range of services the Post Office provides. After the changes the Post Office will be open at the same times as the shop. There will be a change to last collection time, The Post Office last collection time will be changing from 15 February 2016. The new time for the last pick up of mail will be 15: 50 Monday to Friday and 12:15 on Saturday. Please try to bring mail in before the final cut off time if possible. SEDLESCOMBE LIBRARY SERVICE: Try to remember to use your local lending library here in the heart of Sedlescombe and available to us all. Every Tuesday volunteers man the library in committee room 2 of the village hall from 1.30 to 2.30pm. Save carrying home books from Battle or Hastings and use your local library instead please or we may find it will not be available in the future.

MEET YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT: You are invited to an open meeting to meet your MP, Huw Merriman, in Sedlescombe Village Hall at 6.00 pm to 7.30pm on Friday March 4. He will speak of his first 9 months as your representative in Parliament and be available to answer your questions on the subjects that most concern you. Join us for a lively debate. All are welcome so please come along

LOCAL POTTERY CLASSES: Creative Cold Clay with Isabel. Adult pottery classes, all abilities, maximum of 8 students per class. Starting March 2016 Tuesday 3pm - 5.30pm 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 March held in Committee Room 2 at Sedlescombe Village Hall OR Thursday 2pm to 4.30pm 3, 10,17, 24 and 31 March held in Committee Room 2 at Sedlescombe Village Hall. The cost is £75 for either Tuesday or Thursday for the 5 week term including project materials and tea/coffee break. Additional materials and equipment will be available to buy. Learn how to make pinch/thumb pots, coil pots, slab work, modeling and sculpture and also how to finish and decorate work. Future classes will build on all aspect of cold clay work and we will look to expand techniques and you can explore your own projects. The use of cold clays removes many of the less controllable aspects of the pottery process i.e firing and the use of glazes, yet allowing you to use and develop many traditional pottery methods to expand and enhance your creativity. COFFEE MORNING RESULTS: The coffee morning and mini market held at the beginning of February in the village hall raised £ 111.00. Thank you to all those that went along

SEDLESCOMBE ‘S GOT TALENT: A new date has been arranged for this event – Friday May 20 in the village hall, We expect to see singers , dancers, jugglers , musicians , in fact all types of entertainment are welcome to join in from Sedlescombe and the surrounding area. Places will be limited to allow for a fair opportunity for all taking part. There is no fee to enter and there will be a £100 awarded to the winner and runner up prizes too.
