Sedlescombe

SEDLESCOMBE: Just one more week to go until the big day! As you search for that last present or write a message in a final card, it is so easy to get herded along in the rush but I hope that you get the opportunity to just take some time just for you to reflect on what it is really all about and what it means to you personally.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH CHURCH: This Sunday December 20 it is the Annual Candlelit Carol service at 6pm with lots of favourite carols and some offerings from the choir, this is followed by mulled wine and mince pies. On Wednesday, December 23 will be the turn of the flower arrangers who will be in decorating the church ready for Christmas from 10am onwards. We are so fortunate in the village to have such a dedicated group of volunteer arrangers, the church always looks beautiful especially for the highlights in the Christian calendar.

On Thursday December 24 the crib service will be at 4pm when all children are invited to just go along and join in the story of the first Christmas, come in your own clothes, angels, shepherds, kings or there are plenty of costumes in church for you to use. Come on children bring your mum, dad, granny, granddad, aunts and uncles. Everyone is very welcome to be together, this year, in a much warmer church than the last.

Later that night at 11pm Midnight Mass will start at 11pm heralding in Christmas day.

On Friday, December 25 there will be Christmas communion at 10.30am in celebration.

SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY: Today, December 18 is the Seniors party in the village hall. I’m sure there will be a wonderful atmosphere with the seasonal buffet, drinks and entertainment. This would be a good time to mention the dedicated volunteers who arrange this event and many others throughout the year for the benefit of others. Thank you to them for creating a better life in the village for our older residents to enjoy.

THANK YOU FROM ME: to everyone who has used the village voice this year, I hope that you had added success at your events and clubs throughout 2015.
