AUTUMN SHOW: “Successful Autumn Show at Sedlescombe”.

Last Saturday, Sedlescombe and District Garden Society held their Autumn show in the village hall that turned out to be a huge success. Large numbers attended the show and enjoyed a wonderful display of dahlias, a large quantity of quality fruit and vegetables, some intricate handicraft designs, record entries in the domestic section and some imaginative and innovative designs in the Floral Art section. It was an enjoyable afternoon for all the family with teas, coffees and cakes being served, as well as a raffle, apple tasting and some yummy recipes made with courgettes. The committee wish to thank all those members and non-members who made the show such a huge success. The list of the winners is as follows: Cut Flowers and Foliage Section.

JUMBLE SALE: Are you clearing your wardrobes and cupboards? The Friends of Sedlescombe church hold their annual jumble sale on Saturday October 31 at Sedlescombe village hall from 2pm. This is always a popular event in and around the village. We are appealing for all your unwanted items, clothes, books, bric a brac, anything that could be sold to help the Trust. Please start to collect your goods together which can be donated on the morning of the sale or for collection prior to the event please contact Pauline on 01424 870412

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE: Throughout the summer you may have had the opportunity to visit some of the beautiful gardens in the area that have been kindly opened by their owners in support of the charity. I hope you have also enjoyed the cakes that have been on offer throughout the season which Asselton Cakes have been pleased to supply now for the past few years. The last garden of the season will be on Saturday October 10 at Peasmarsh Place, Church Lane, Peasmarsh TN32 6XE by permission of Viscount Devonport. The five acre arboretum will be bursting with colour at this time of the year and features rare trees that the Viscount collected on his travels. Admission is £4 and will be open from 11am to 3pm. QUIZ NIGHT: Battle & Villages Lions Club are searching for quizzers to join in at their Children in Need Quiz on Friday November 13 at Ninfield Memorial Hall. Tickets are £6.50 per person which includes a tasty ploughman’s supper. All proceeds go direct to Children in Need.
