AUTUMN SHOW: This Saturday, Saturday September 26, Sedlescombe and District Garden Society is holding its Autumn Show in the Village Hall, Sedlescombe. As well as flower and vegetable classes there are classes for Floral art, photography, handicraft and a domestic home cooking section, and special classes for children, so lots to see and admire. As well as viewing all the exhibits there will be a tasting stall of various apples grown locally, and also a tasting stall of various courgette recipes. A raffle will be held and refreshments will be available, so come along and have a family fun afternoon.

HARVEST FESTIVAL: This Sunday September 27 St John the Baptist church will holding their Harvest festival services to give thanks for the harvest safely gathered in. Parish Eucharist will be at 10.30am with Evensong at 6pm followed by a Harvest supper in the church to which everyone is very welcome. A tasty menu awaits you , no tickets are necessary but a donation of £ 5 each would be welcome on the evening.

DECORATING THE CHURCH: Margaret writes “On Friday September 25, our team of flower arrangers will begin to decorate the church in the morning from 10am until noon as at 2pm the village school children will hold their Harvest service in the church. We look forward to welcoming them. On Saturday September 26 the floral arrangers will return at 10am to finish the decorating to be ready for Sundays services as described above”

COFFEE MORNING AND MINI MARKET: The next coffee morning and mini market will be in the village hall on Thursday October 1 from 10 to 11.30am. All the usual stalls, books puzzles, plants, Bric a Brac and a well stocked cake stall. Refreshments will be on offer including Coffee, tea, scones, cheese and fruit. A perfect opportunity to meet up with old friends and make some new ones, especially if you have newly moved into the village. You will be made very welcome. All proceeds to benefit St John the Baptist church. For more details please contact 870808.

JUMBLE SALE: The Friends of Sedlescombe church hold their annual jumble sale on Saturday October 31 at Sedlescombe village hall from 2pm. This is always a popular event in and around the village. We are appealing for all your unwanted items, clothes, books, bric a brac, anything that could be sold to help the Trust. Please start to collect your goods together which can be donated on the morning of the sale or for collection prior to the event please contact Pauline on 01424 870412

QUIZ NIGHT: You may have seen the write up for Battle & Villages Lions Club in the main part of this newspaper last week. Many of this small group live here in Sedlescombe and were / are looking for new members to join them. You do not have to be a member though to take part in their Children in Need Quiz on Friday November 13 at Ninfield Memorial Hall. Tickets are £6. 50 per person which includes a tasty ploughman’s supper. All proceeds go direct to Children in Need.
