SDGS GARDEN SAFARI: This Saturday July 4 Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society have their very own open gardens for members and their guests to visit from 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Tickets and maps can be collected on the day from one of the committee members who will be in the beer garden of The Queens Head Pub, or just inside if it is raining. One of the gardens will be serving tea and yummy cakes and there will be plants for sale on the way. Ticket prices are £3.00 per person. SEDLESCOMBE RANGERS: Sedlescombe Rangers will be hosting their annual tournament over the next two weekends starting this Saturday July 4. Due to the popularity of the tournament which attracts many teams and supporters from across the county you may experience increased traffic activity around the village. Peak times are 8 to 9.15am and 12.30 to 2pm. The club will be working hard to minimise the disruption and give apogolise in advance for any inconvenience the event may cause.

SEDLESCOMBE SPORTS ASSOCIATION: Have you a small pressure washer or petrol strimmer that is surplus to your requirements? If so then the Sports Association would be very grateful if you would like to donate it to them towards the upkeep of the Sports Pavilion and surrounding area. SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT FLOWER CLUB: The club will be having a demonstrator this month, Iris Shaw will be interpreting “Facets of my Life” on Wednesday July 8 in Sedlescombe village hall. Doors will be open from 7pm will the demo starting at 7.30pm. During the evening there will be plenty of time to stock up of floral accessories, socialise and meet Iris. Her beautiful arrangements will be raffled at the end of the evening. You do not have to be a member to come along and see what it is all about, you may even find that like me this is something you thought would not be for you and then were pleasantly surprised. The club will also be taking part in the village fayre on July 18, when you will get the opportunity of making something to take home with you, hope to see you there.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2015: Only a couple of weeks to go now when Sedlescombe Fayre on the Sports field makes its return on Saturday July 18 2015. open from 2 ‘til approx 5pm- we say approx as we do not really know what will happen once the goose appears ! This is being organised by Sedlescombe Societies Association and sponsored by the Parish Council and the Sports Association. Chris Campbell estate agents have offered their support in sponsoring Advertising boards for the event. Pumphouse Designs have also supplied posters for around the village. Many of the village groups and businesses will be taking part on the day including to name just a few, Sedlescombe School, The Queens Head,K9 Rescue dogs, Pestalozzi, Battle Lions, Sedlescombe Flower Club, Sedlescombe Green WI, Parish church and Friends of the Church, Sedlescombe cricket club, Sedlescombe football club, Sedlescombe Preschool, Friends of Sedlescombe School, Sedlescombe Wine Club when they will have the opportunity to publicise and raise funds for themselves and local charities. One of the village geese will also have a starring role when he enhances the cricket square!

There will also be the Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society summer show, an excellent Art exhibition, ice cream van and refreshments will be provided by staff and volunteers from St Michaels Hospice raising funds directly for this local charity.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE GRAND DRAW: TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE from Sedlescombe Stores and the Clockhouse hair and Beauty Studio and other sellers around the village. This will be drawn in the afternoon at the village fayre on Saturday July 18. Prizes donated so far include Brickwall Hotel Dinner for two, One hour Western Riding lesson given by Jonathan Vine-Hall, European Gold Medalist, Voucher for a combined session with Sedlescombe Fitness worth £70, Two pairs of weekend tickets including camping for the Big Green Cardigan Festival worth £80 per ticket, Hamper from Sedlescombe Stores, Entry for two to Pashley Manor gardens, Vineyard tours at Sedlescombe Vineyard and Carr Taylor Vineyard, Mot from Vicarys garage, 2 hour guided tour of Hurst House gardens for 4 people with Pimms escorted by the Head Gardener.

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDENING SOCIETY: Their Summer show will be on Saturday July 18 TOO. If the weather is fine then this will be held on the Sports ground as part of the village Summer Fete. If it should be bad weather on the day, fingers crossed it is not then they will hold their show in the village hall. So get those schedules out and decide what classes you are going to enter this year. The weather for growing plants has been kind to us to date, they are hoping for a bumper number of entries in the flower and foliage section. Also those artistic amongst us what about some entries in the Floral Art section.

JAZZ EVENING AFTER THE VILLAGE FAIR: There are still a few tickets left for this special event being held in the village hall , after all the fun of the fair on Saturday July 18 it will be time to chill out with the great duo of Mike Hatchard on keyboard and Herbie Flowers on bass. Mike’s career in music began as a member of the Johnny Dankworth Quintet, accompanying Cleo Laine on her tour of America and then as Matt Monroe’s musical director. His long career also includes songwriting producing and teaching.. Herbie Flowers is a legend in the world of pop music. By the end of the 1970s he had played on over 500 hit recordings. Herbie was a founding member of Blue Mink and co founder of the band, Sky. The evening starts at 7pm with time to buy drinks at the bar and be seated at your table by 7.30pm. Herbie and Mike will entertain you until 8.30pm and then there will be a 45 minute break for a supper of coronation chicken, gluten free, salads and crusty bread followed by chocolate and raspberry roulade. If you have any dietary requirements please call 870862. The evening will end at 11pm.Tickets are just £20 for this super evening with all profits raised to benefit Sedlescombe doctors surgery. ST MICHAELS HOSPICE OPEN GARDEN SCHEME: The season continues with a new garden open for the first time , Knightsbridge House, Grove Hill , Hellingly BN27 4HH open on Tuesday July 7, which will be open from 10.30am until 4pm in support of this local charity. This stunning garden features lovely views over surrounding fields along with a colourful garden borders and walled area. Entry is just £4. Refreshments will be available all day at this venue. Well worth a visit with family or friends.
