SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDEN SOCIETY SPRING SHOW: This Saturday, April 11 the society is holding its Spring Show in the village hall. Staging of entries will take place between 8.00 am and 10.15am followed by the judging. Doors will be open to you from 2.00pm to view all the exhibits in the various sections and perhaps gain inspiration for the season ahead , classes include cut flowers, vegetables, pot plants, floral art, domestic, photography, handicrafts and junior sections. There will be a raffle stall and a stall where some delicious chutneys can be tasted and bought, and of course refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon.

RENOVATION OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH: Please remember that the church will be closed from April 7 for approximately twelve weeks to allow for the work to commence on the under floor heating project and reinstatement of the tiled floor throughout the church. Whilst the work is under way services will be held in the Sedlescombe primary school hall at the usual time of 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend there over this period.

“PUTTING ON THE RITZ”: Sedlescombe and District Flower club will once again be hosting their elegant afternoon tea event at the village hall on Saturday May 23. If a choice of tea, dainty sandwiches, delicious cakes and scones come to mind then this is the event for you. This proved a very popular event last time it was on offer so please do not delay in applying for your tickets especially if you would like to reserve a table to share with friends or family. SEDLESCOMBE’S GOT TALENT: Will be in Sedlescombe village hall on Friday 5 June from 7pm. Two years ago, when it was last held, there was a wealth of talent that came forward to compete for the £100 first prize. There is no entry fee but limited spaces to give everyone a fair chance to shine on stage. Do you love to entertain? Then come and be part of the show Nearer the date audience tickets will be on sale, with any profits raised from this event going towards the church renovations now taking place so please mark your diaries to either take part or come along to enjoy the evening. Organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church Heritage Trust. To book your place to perform on the night please call Jean Dann on 882438.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2015: Sedlescombe Fayre on the Sports field will be making a welcome return this summer on Saturday July 18 2015. This is being organised by Sedlescombe Societies Association and sponsored by the Parish Council and the Sports Association. Many of the village groups and businesses will be taking part on the day including to name just a few, Sedlescombe School, The Queens Head,K9 Rescue dogs, Pestalozzi, Battle Lions, Sedlescombe Flower Club, Parish church and Friends of the Church, Sedlescombe cricket club, Sedlescombe football club and Sedlescombe Preschool when they will have the opportunity to publicise and raise funds for themselves and local charities. If your club or group would like to be one of them then please call Sally Sidgwick on 07803937220. There is no fee for local groups to be a part of this traditional village event. There will also be the Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society summer show, an excellent Art exhibition and refreshments provided by staff and volunteers from St Michaels Hospice.

On Saturday July 18, the evening of this years Summer Fayre, there will be a fantastic evening of musical entertainment in the village hall with the legendary Mike Hatchard and Herbie Flowers. This will be a first for Sedlescombe so please come along and join us for a great evening

TABLE TOP SALE: There is to be a table top sale in the village hall on Saturday April 25, open to the public from 1pm, sellers to set up from 12noon. Tables are available to hire at £10, please call Margaret on 01424 870808. In aid of St John the Baptist church.

GARDENING TALK: Westfield Horticultural Society welcomes Mr Hilary Newman on Wednesday, April 15 at 7.30pm at the Community Hall, Moor road, Westfield who will talk about the small greenhouse and its management. All are welcome, to go along and find out what you should be doing to use the greenhouse efficiently. Mr Hilary Newman is a past director of Hadlow Agricultural College. There will be a raffle and a plant and seed exchange table. This should be a most informative evening and also a chance to find out what future activities Westfield Horticultural Society are planning.

GET WELL SOON: Best wishes to Margaret Hudson for a speedy recovery after her recent accident. Many of the groups in the village will certainly be missing her support that she gives them but if you know Margaret then this set back will not be holding her back for long!
