LENT LUNCHES: Lent lunches continue today, Friday March 6 at 2 Forge Cottages , The Green from 12noon to 1.30pm and will continue for the nest three Fridays. It does seem perfect weather at the moment to be enjoying a bowl of home made soup and crusty bread whilst meeting and chatting to friends old and new. Last weeks lunch was well attended and is in support of these good causes, Farm Africa and the local Seaview Project in St Leonards. Everyone is welcome to attend and Margaret looks forward to welcoming you.

PESTALOZZI EVENT: You are invited to their International Celebration! A fantastic day for all the family! SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDENING SOCIETY: Their next event is a speaker session in Sedlescombe village hall on Tuesday March 10. The talk this time will be titled “Clematis Through the Seasons” and given by Everett Leeds. It will start at 2pm and refreshments will be served.

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT FLOWER CLUB: Come along to Sedlescombe village hall on Wednesday March 11 to enjoy an evening of “A few of my favourite things , no not mine, a much more interesting demonstration by visiting floral arranger, Sue Thompson. All the beautiful flower arrangements are raffled off at the end of the evening. There will also be keenly priced floral accessories on sale and refreshments available during the evening giving some time to socailise. Doors will be open from 7pm, all members and visitors are welcome to attend, if you think you know what the flower club is for then come along and find out for sure. EASTER FAYRE: Sedlescombe Pre-School is hosting an Easter Fayre at the Village Hall on Saturday March 21 from 1-3pm. All welcome to join in for Easter arts and crafts and enjoy an array of stalls including a Chocolate Tombola, Lucky dip, Bric a Brac, second hand toys plus much more. There will be an Easter Bake Off Competition and an Easter Bonnet Parade and the Fayre will be opened by the Easter Bunny at 1pm They have a few tables available to hire if anyone would like to sell their own goods or promote their own club or business. MEMORIAL SERVICE: There will be a memorial service on Wednesday March 11 at 2.30pm at St John the Baptist parish church, to remember and celebrate the life of Dr Caroline Hargreaves who sadly passed away last month. Caroline served Sedlescombe as a family GP for over 20 years before retiring due to ill health. It has been requested for no flowers but donations please to St Michaels Hospice.

EASTER LILIES: It is once again time to order your Easter lilies in memory of your loved ones to decorate the church on Easter Sunday, April 5. Lilies can be dedicated for £2 each with their names being displayed on the roll of honour at the altar on Easter Sunday. THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB QUIZ NIGHT: The friendship club will be hosting a quiz night on Friday March 20 at Sedlescombe village hall. If you are interested in forming a team and taking part or for further details please contact Ralph Dellow on 01424 870223 . All proceeds raised will benefit the Friendship club.

MEET YOUR CANDIDATE: Last Saturday saw a good number of people at the village hall to meet Huw Merriman, the recently selected Conservative Parliamentary Candidate. The audience were able to ask direct questions and gain direct answers , it was so good to see the old style of politics in action, out meeting the voters and finding out what is important to them and listening to some of their concerns Local County and District Councillors Angharad Davies and Tony Ganly were also in attendance.
