LENT LUNCHES: Lent lunches continue today, Friday February 27 at 2 Forge Cottages , The Green from 12noon to 1.30pm and will continue for the following four Fridays. Last weeks lunch was very successful even on the cold miserable day that it was even so visitors enjoyed a bowl of home made soup and crusty bread whilst meeting and chatting to other friends. Proceeds this year will be shared between Farm Africa and the Seaview Project in St Leonards. Everyone is welcome to attend and Margaret looks forward to welcoming you.

MEET YOUR CANDIDATE: This Saturday February 28 from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Huw Merriman, the recently selected Conservative Parliamentary Candidate and your local County and District Councillors Angharad Davies and Tony Ganly will be holding an open meeting in Sedlescombe Village Hall . All residents are cordially invited to meet Huw and ask him any questions you may have. Refreshments will be served.

COFFEE MORNING AND MINI MARKET: The next coffee morning and mini market will be in the village hall on Thursday March 5 from 10 to 11.30am. All the usual stalls and refreshments will be on offer. A perfect opportunity to meet up with your friends for a coffee or tea for £1 plus they will have hot cross buns and cheese scone available too. Now is the time to also buy food for your feathered friends in this cold weather with sparse hedgerows to feed on. All proceeds to benefit St John the Baptist church. CHURCHYARD CLEARING: Unfortunately due to rain or was it snow that appeared at the vital start time the churchyard clear up was a non starter. A few hardy souls went along and made a start only to be thwarted by the weather. Thank you to them. It is hoped to plan another date in the near future and that you may have a few hours to spare to help out – watch this space for further details.

SEDLESCOMBE’S GOT TALENT: Do you love to entertain? Then come and be part of the show to be held in Sedlescombe village hall on Friday 6 June from 7pm. Two years ago, when it was last held, there was a wealth of talent that came forward to compete for the £100 first prize. There is no entry fee but limited spaces to give everyone a fair chance to shine on stage. Nearer the date audience tickets will be on sale, with any profits raised from this event going towards the church renovations now taking place so please mark your diaries to either take part or come along to enjoy the evening. Organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church Heritage Trust . To book your place to perform on the night please call Jean Dann on 882438.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2015: Sedlescombe Fayre on the Sports field will be making a welcome return this summer on Saturday July 18 2015. This is being organised by Sedlescombe Societies Association and sponsored by the Parish Council and the Sports Association. Many of the village groups and businesses will be taking part on the day including to name just a few Sedlescombe School, The Queens Head,K9 Rescue dogs, Pestalozzi, Battle Lions, Sedlescombe Flower Club, Parish church and Friends of the Church when they will have the opportunity to publicise and raise funds for themselves and local charities. If your club or group would like to be one of them then please call Sally Sidgwick on 07803937220. There is no fee to be a part of this traditional village event. There will also be vintage cars, an excellent Art exhibition and refreshments provided by St Michaels Hospice.
