Sedlescombe

It seems everything this week relates to gardens and plants in some way and why not indeed whilst we are able to get outdoors to enjoy this lovely weather and light evenings.

Sedlescombe and District Flower club have a meeting at the village hall on Wednesday July 9 when demonstrator Christine Nash will be interpreting the title “Travelling Light”. This could prove to be an interesting play on words and you are invited to come along and see what can be arranged from flowers to mean those two small words. Doors will be open from 7pm with the main event starting at 7.30pm. There will be time during the evening for refreshments, socialising and stocking up for your own arranging needs. The beautiful floral arrangements will be raffled at the end of the evening, so if you are attending you will have the opportunity of taking home a splendid reminder of the event. Members, please try and bring a friend to enjoy the evening with you. For further details please contact Sheila on 01797 223927 or Janet on 01424 773708

Sedlescombe and District Garden Society Summer Show this year will be held on the Village Green on Saturday August 2. The committee are hard at work making final arrangements for the event, which will include the participation of many of the local businesses, clubs and societies. However the focal point will be what is affectionately known as “The Flower Show”. They would like to make this year’s show one to remember and John Parsons, the chairman is asking for you to enter as many items as you can from those listed in the “Show Schedule”. They are also planning to have a photographic display of “70 years of the Garden Society”. Does any member have any photographs that could be included in the display? Any contributions would be greatly appreciated, please contact John or Sue on 01580 831996
