The Sedlescombe & District Garden Society will be holding their final event of the year on Tuesday December 3 when Chris Hone, award winning bee keeper, will be giving an illustrated and informative talk on Bees and Bee Keeping. The talk will take place at the village hall starting at 2.00 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments and the traditional raffle both with a Christmas theme. The Society has had another successful year and the committee is working hard on another full programme of events for 2014, including a number of speakers on garden related subjects, three shows, a plant sale, two coach trips and at least one social event to celebrate our 70th anniversary. Existing members can renew their membership at any time now and new members would be welcomed with open arms – why not go along on the 3rd and meet some of the existing committee and members and get a feel for what the Society can offer.

With so many Christmas fayres and events taking place it is difficult not to feel sad about the recent AGM of the Sedlescombe Societies’ Association when the future of the Sedlescombe summer fayre 2014 was the focus. It was very disappointing that only two people from the whole village came forward to stand for the organising committee and therefore at the present time it will not be possible to have this event for the village to enjoy. I was decide to hold a n extraordinary general meeting in early February 2014 for the purpose of winding up the Association, should no other willing volunteers come forward at that time this will be the outcome and a great loss to the community.
