Don’t miss Rural Past Times this weekend August 10 and 11 from 10am to 5pm at Pestalozzi Village. Entry: £5 / under 14s free. Vintage tractors, commercials, horticultural and stationary engines will be on display along with timber cutting demonstrations, threshing and working the land as of times gone by, also heavy horses, birds of prey and ferret racing. Crafts including trug making and pole lathe turners will be on show along with many trade stands There will be a small traditional fun fair for the children. Sedlescombe and District Flower Club resume their meetings in the village hall on Wednesday August 14 with a “Showstopper” of a demonstration from Gill Sadler. During the evening the sales table will be available for you to purchase flower arranging accessories to aid you after being inspired. Doors will be open from 7pm and everyone is welcome to attend who love flowers and is interested in their arrangement. There will be time available when you will have an opportunity to catch up with friends or perhaps make some new ones. Members you are reminded that the title for this months club arrangement table is any musical, it is not compulsory to take part but the more that do the more we can all learn from each other so please have a go if you can.

Have you booked your table for Sedlescombe Green WI Quiz evening on Wednesday August 28 7pm for 7.30pm at Sedlescombe village hall? Following on from last weeks news from Sedlescombe CE Primary School, Marion Ham writes: we are delighted

to share the good news with you regarding our end of year National Test results 2013. Our children aged 7 and 11 years old have taken part in the National Tests this summer, and our results are higher than the National averages and also higher than East Sussex results for all schools. We are feeling very proud of our children, families, teachers and teacher assistants. If you’d like to look at our results, please feel welcome to go onto our website www.sedlescombecep.e-sussex.sch.uk and click on the train. Then click on the “SATS results” tab on the left hand side of the home page, and enjoy our 2013 results for maths, reading and writing. This is great news.

At our end of term assemblies our school Governors presented awards to children in Year 2 and in Year 6 with the highest academic achievements in maths, literacy and science. We also presented several awards to children with talents

For those of you that are interested in the history of our area, there is an exhibition of photographs by Dr Douglas Moss at St Mary’s centre, Lion Street, Rye entitled Treasures of Romney marsh, the fourteen churches. it will be open this Friday and Saturday August 9 and 10 from 10am to 4pm .
