This Saturday April 20, two Sedlescombe Girl Guides, Natasha and Maya, are organising a quiz night to be held at Sedlescombe Village Hall. The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £6 per person and include a jacket potato with a choice of fillings. You can make up a team of 6 maximum so why not go along and support these young people in their fundraising in aid of their trip to an international Jamboree in Belgium in the summer. Tickets are now on sale in the village shop.

The Scout movement shouldn’t be outdone, so although we have no scouts in Sedlescombe, I have heard that Westfield have vacancies in their Beaver colony and would be very happy to welcome you. If you have a son or daughter between the ages of 6 to 8 looking for fun and wanting to make new friends in the area, why not give it a try? The next meeting of Sedlescombe Green WI is in the village hall on Wednesday April 24 when Mr Rhoderick Jones will speak about the History of Ashburnham Place, as always new members and visitors are very welcome to attend. The competition this month is, as always, the flower of the month, so please bring your beautiful specimens but also bring your favourite shell for all to enjoy. I’m sure most people have at least one of these items if not both so the table should be full this month. for any more details please contact Margaret on 870808.

Now that we seem to be experiencing a little better weather are your thoughts turning to whether your summer clothes are still going to fit you or do you just want to feel a bit fitter? A local remedy for us in Sedlescombe, that might help, is to go along to the Zumba classes held at the village hall every Thursday. Zumba Gold takes place at 6.15pm and is a fun, low impact, easy to follow, Latin inspired dance workout, suitable for the older adult or the complete beginner. Zumba takes place at 7.30pm and is the Latin inspired, easy to follow, calorie burning, dance fitness workout.

Tickets are now on sale for the elegant afternoon tea “Putting on the Ritz” taking place on Saturday May 18. Sedlescombe and District Flower club will be transforming the village hall and look forward to waiting on you. Anybody interested in a visit to Bletchley Park, site of the wartime secret British code breaking activities during WWII and birthplace of the modern computer on Tuesday May 21?
