Mrs Ham writes from Sedlescombe Primary school that the term has been a very busy one and the time has flown by,we are already at Easter. We have enjoyed many exciting school trips this term such as visiting the Royal Albert Hall for a concert for children, called ‘Classical Spectacular’ by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, a bus tour of London, the Kent Life Museum, the Science Museum in London, Hertmonceaux Science Centre, a Farm in Hooe, and the Blue Reef centre in Hastings. Our school choir took part in the Hastings Festival Choir Competition a couple of weeks ago, singing two songs beautifully, they came 4th out of 11 schools, with a special merit result of 85 points. The school football and netball teams have played several matches and won most of them. We have enjoyed welcoming visiting artists into school for a Shakespeare Day with Year 6 children, drama day with 2 other classes and last Friday we enjoyed a visiting drama company’s performance of ‘Tom’s Midnight Garden’ for the whole. The children break up this week on Maundy Thursday, March 28, for the Easter holiday. We return to school on Monday April 15.

During the school holiday there will be some building works taking place at school - to enlarge a classroom. We hope this does not cause any inconvenience to the Village and to our school neighbours in particular. We will also be having new changing rooms installed at our school swimming pool, ready for our new swimming season. We have raised £7000 for our pool improvements so far, which is fantastic. This money will fund the new changing rooms. We are very keen to open up our school pool to the community, and therefore I invite you to email me, or phone the school, if you are keen to enjoy the use of our pool in the evening, stating which evenings and times are most convenient to you. email: [email protected], or phone 01424 870585. I look forward to hearing from you.

The Governors and Staff join me in wishing you a very happy Easter.

Margaret would like to thank everyone for supporting the Lent lunches over the last six weeks, and the good news is that these raised £492. This money will be shared between three charities. Popularity for the lunches grew as starting the first week with about twelve people by the time the last Friday came round twenty two people were enjoying a soup and roll lunch. It was a bit of a squash but fun. A big thank you to the soup makers and waitresses, a great help.
