Sedlescombe summer fair

IT was perfect weather for Sedlescombe Summer Fayre on Saturday.The event got underway with a colourful parade led by the 1066 Pipes and Drums.

This year's Flower Princess, chosen from the local primary school, was Sapphire McKenzie-O'Neil, who was attended by Emily Carden and Francesca Legg. They arrived in style in a vintage Alvis car.

The opening ceremony was conducted by Barbara Flynn, from the film Miss Potter.

Attractions included go-karts, a football tournament, belly dancing and a performance by Hastings Coastal Twirlers.

Judy Torrance, who helped organise the event, said: "It was glorious sunshine and there was a bumper attendance.

Actress Barbara Flynn officially opened the Fayre and then spent the afternoon happily chatting to villagers and joining in with the fun.

"This highly successful day was organised by Sedlescombe Societies' Association and raised more than 1,400 which will be used to provide additional support to organisations around the village."
