Sedlescombe village voice

You can tell that Autumn is upon us and the nights are drawing in as more events are planned to keep the village entertained and together through the long dark evenings ahead.

We start off with this Saturday September 29, there is a traditional harvest supper in the village hall, doors open from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. You are warmly invited to come and join friends old and new while enjoying crusty bread, cheese, ham and salads followed by apple pie and cream along with a glass of wine or fruit juice. Tea and coffee to finish the meal. Everyone is welcome to attend and is usually a very entertaining social evening. Tickets are now on sale at the village stores and from church members priced £8 each.

On Sunday 30 September follows the Harvest praise service starting at 10am at the parish church to give thanks for the harvest safely gathered in after a difficult season for farmers and gardeners. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Next weekend, October 6 and 7, Stella Brabants is holding a charity art event at her home, the Haven, Sandrock Hill, Sedlescombe to raise awareness of Hughes Syndrome (APS), a potentially life-threatening condition that affects both young and old alike. It will run from 11 am to 5 pm on both days and everyone is welcome. 20% of all sales will go to the Hughes Syndrome Foundation, a charity that works hard to inform and educate both the general public and the medical profession. This is a good opportunity to buy early Christmas presents and cards and there will be plenty of smaller items for sale as well as some great artwork by local artists, plus art demonstrations. There will be a £1 entry charge, to include tea or coffee all of which will go to the charity. Stella looks forward to welcoming you to her home.
