Sedlescombe village voice

Rural Pastimes is back this weekend taking place at Pestalozzi village on August 11 and 12, open on both days from 10am to 5pm.

This year will include tractors, steam engines, heavy horses and a sheep shearing demonstration and many more stalls and attractions. There will be the silent auction with all proceeds to St Michael’s hospice. Entry for the day is £5 per head with free entrance for children under 12 and free parking. All proceeds being donated to local charities. Jim Flegg of the programme, Country Ways, will be opening the weekend proceedings.

Time for a clear out during the school holidays ,there is still time to book a table at the indoor Boot Fayre taking place at Sedlescombe Village Hall next weekend, Saturday August 18 from 2-4pm . They are available to rent for £10 each with early booking advised so please call 01424 883550 now. All profits to Jellybeans Toddler Group.

This will be followed by another indoor Boot Fayre once again at Sedlescombe village hall on Saturday, August 25 from 2-4pm. Funds raised from this fayre will go towards Sean Wood’s Headstone. Sean was a lovely young lad in the village but during December last year tragically passed away. If anyone wishes to donate any unwanted items then Karen Dann would gladly sell them on the day and this would all go towards Sean’s Fund. If anyone wishes to have table, then they are also available to hire. Please call 01424 883550 to book.

Battle Area Community Transport are a local charity run bus service and have several day out bus routes for our village area, two of which Bexhill & Tunbridge Wells are new. These are monthly to Eastbourne and bi monthly to Tenterden, Rye, Bexhill and Tunbridge Wells. Passengers can use their bus passes on all these routes but must call in advance to book their seats. the next dates to run this month are service B82 on August 16 to Eastbourne and service B84 on August 24 to Tenterden. More dates and routes are on display on the village notice board showing the next three months. They are also always looking for new volunteer drivers, you only need D1 on your licence, so if you are interested in learning more and helping the community transport then please contact Lyn on the above number or e-mail: [email protected]
